Trying to Conceive Again | IVF Success Stories

At New Hope, we have the pleasure of helping many women get pregnant who have either failed multiple treatments elsewhere or even had unsuccessful attempts at our own clinic. For those undergoing fertility treatments, we understand giving patients false hope is not beneficial for either party as they begin their treatment — especially for those beginning their treatment again.  On the other hand, our team of fertility specialists pride themselves in being able to treat even the most difficult cases, which is where customizing our protocols comes into action.Through our individualized fertility care programs, we’ve been able to help women who have failed IVF before get pregnant, all while using minimally invasive techniques.

One such case involved a 36-year-old who arrived at New Hope after failing IVF multiple times at other centers in New York.  With the special approach of Dr. Chang, who has experience with “IVF non-responders,” he was able to discover Ms. 36 had an embryo rejection issue.  With this knowledge he made adjustments to her protocol, and despite her diagnosis, she got pregnant from a Natural IVF cycle transfer (no medications) from her embryo created through Mini-IVF™!

Another notable case involving a woman with a history of failed IVF was 43 when she arrived at New Hope.  Again, understanding her IVF history helped our fertility team adjust her protocols accordingly, and we’re happy to announce she got pregnant through an injection-less protocol and a fresh embryo transfer!

If you’re trying to conceive after experiencing multiple IVF failures, there’s still hope.  We have the team and protocols available to reach success even under the most “difficult” circumstances. Schedule a consultation today.

In Vitro Maturation vs. Natural and Mini-IVF™

We recently came across some interesting videos about in vitro maturation (IVM) and its existence as a “new technology” in the field of assisted reproduction.  We were surprised, however, to discover some experts in the fertility field claiming the IVM treatment as new, considering the father of IVF, Robert Edwards, first used this treatment in 1965.

IVM is the process by which eggs retrieved during fertility treatment are matured outside the woman’s body (in vitro) and implanted in an effort to help her conceive.  One of two arguments among fertility experts when it comes to choosing IVM over IVF is to avoid ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), which is associated with the fertility medication used during conventional in vitro fertilization treatment.  The second is reduced cost compared to IVF, since the patient does not use or pay for large amounts of fertility medication since the egg is matured in vitro.

New Hope Fertility Center has been offering minimally invasive and cost effective IVF techniques for ten years, which not only compares to IVM in preventing OHSS and reducing cost, but offer the woman a treatment that is closer to mother nature.  When we retrieve the few eggs produced during our Natural Cycle (one egg) and Mini-IVF™ (2-3 eggs) treatment, we transfer the subsequent embryos (suggesting single embryo transfers to all of our patients) and let nature do the rest.  Those who argue IVM to be the more favorable option versus Natural and Mini-IVF™ treatments are not considering that the best environment in which an egg or embryo to mature is where it would mature in nature — the woman’s uterus.

Getting Pregnant After IVF Failures | IVF Success Stories

When it comes to infertility, emotional and physical stress are unifying themes between women and other couples struggling to get pregnant. If having trouble getting pregnant isn’t hard enough, many women also suffer the frustration of failed IVF cycles, which only add to feelings that come along with being labeled a “statistic” — loss, uncertainty, and hopelessness.

Many traditional fertility centers will turn away women, partners, and couples who have previously failed IVF, and are subsequently labeled as “IVF non-responders.” For the staff and doctors at New Hope, however, IVF non-responders are some of our more inspiring cases. Just like infertility shining a light on themes of hopelessness and loss, so do these particular women bring together themes of resilience, hope, and persistence.  In realizing any dream, especially that of motherhood, these characteristics are the key to success.

Just recently we had the honor of treating a few women who got pregnant after unsuccessful IVF cycles, and other than infertility, pushing through to the next best option is what make these patients similar.

Our first patient, Ms. 41, arrived at our clinic with a history of primary infertility.  After completing 2 Mini-IVF™ cycles and a Natural IVF Cycle,  she had a failed fresh embryo transfer.  After discussing her next options with our fertility specialists, she had a frozen embryo transfer that was successful and she got pregnant.

Our second IVF success story comes from Ms. 34, who came to New Hope after suffering with tubal factor infertility. She completed 1 Mini-IVF cycle and, unfortunately, after her fresh embryo transfer, she did not get pregnant. Ms. 34 decided to push through and have a frozen embryo transfer 3 months later, and the second time was her charm — she got pregnant!

Our third patient, Ms. 43, came to us with a history of 2 pre-term deliveries. She completed a few frustratingly unsuccessful cycles of Mini-IVF™ and Natural Cycle IVF, but she did not give up there. After moving to our Donor Program, she had a donor frozen embryo transfer and got pregnant.

Congratulations to these 3 inspiring women who got pregnant after going through IVF failure.  You are a guiding light for women who need that extra push when getting back up feels impossible!

Getting Pregnant After Ectopic Pregnancies | IVF Success Stories

Ectopic pregnancies occur when the embryo implants somewhere outside of the woman’s uterus. Oftentimes, this can happen inside one of the woman’s fallopian tubes, known as a tubal pregnancy, but has been known in some instances to occur in the cervix, ovaries, and abdomen (source: Wikipedia).  In the case of an ectopic pregnancy, the fetus cannot survive, and can lead to dangerous conditions for the woman as well.

At New Hope, we’ve helped many women who have previously suffered through an ectopic pregnancy get pregnant successfully.

Just recently, for instance, we had a 28-year-old come to our center seeking help to get pregnant after experiencing the trauma of an ectopic pregnancy.  Our fertility care doctors understand the dangers involved in overstimulating the sensitive uterine environments of patients with these types of reproductive health histories, which is why we often elect more holistic IVF techniques to help them conceive.  Applying this protocol to Ms. 28 worked — and after her first Mini-IVF™ cycle here at New Hope, she was able to conceive successfully after just a single frozen embryo transfer.

Ms. 34 had a similar history, arriving at New Hope after an ectopic pregnancy.  She, along with our doctors, elected to try a few IUI cycles in order to avoid overstimulating with too many fertility drugs; but unfortunately they were unsuccessful.  We are pleased to announce, however, that after just one Mini-IVF™ cyle using donor sperm, Ms. 34 got pregnant.

Congratulations to these two women who overcame a huge barrier of fear after suffering through ectopic pregnancies and got the help they needed to get pregnant — and with the baby in the right place!!

Pregnancy After a Miscarriage | IVF Success Stories

At New Hope Fertility Center, we have many women and couples who seek our help after they have experienced a miscarriage.  In some of our more emotionally trying cases, these women have not just had one, but two or even three miscarriages.

The instance of miscarriage is truly devastating for all those involved, which is why our fertility specialists treat these cases with the extra care and attention to individual detail that they deserve.

Under to guidance of New Hope’s experienced team of fertility experts, New Hope has developed protocols specific to each miscarriage patient in order to ease stress and help these individuals with the right combination of hope and expertise.  We have three recent IVF stories to report — that all involve women who experienced miscarriage before coming to our center and were able to get pregnant with our help.

Our first IVF success story comes from Ms. 46, who had a history of one miscarriage when she came to New Hope. After consulting with our doctors, she elected to try our Donor IVF program, and got pregnant immediately following her first donor frozen embryo transfer!

Our second story involves Ms. 33, who came to New Hope after two miscarriages. After completing one Mini-IVF™ cycle she chose to freeze her embryos, since our frozen embryo protocols have high rates of success after transfer. While her first frozen embryo transfer didn’t achieve pregnancy, she got pregnant with her second try!

Our final story of the week is from Ms. 36, also with a history of one miscarriage like Ms. 46.  Upon careful consideration of her personal health history, our fertility specialists, along Ms. 36, elected to try a few timed intercourse cycles that were unfortunately unsuccessful. The next step we decided to take was have Ms. 36 complete a few Mini-IVF™ cycles in order to produce and preserve her fertility until she was ready to try again.  She was ready to try again at age 40, and after her first frozen embryo transfer she got pregnant with an embryo she froze in 2007.  Clearly an emotionally challenging story, we’re so happy to report on this woman’s particular case, which is as real as it gets when it comes to struggling with infertility and miscarriage.

Congrats to all three of our recent IVF success stories!!!
